Ride Time

So decided to go to the library today and took the mountain bike. Wanting to spend some time on the bike i took off to the Lavington Library which is the furthest of the two libraries i have to choose from. I am pretty happy with how the fitness is coming along. More time in the saddle is more fitness. Sundays Ride really increased my fitness levels. Another couple of big rides should see the fitness going pretty well.

As for the books i borrowed, Ian Flemings "From Russia with Love" and "For your eyes Only".

Long Ride

Feeling quite fatigued tonight as i write this. A fairly good ride with some suffering up the hills. I went through Jindera, up over Jindera gap which is almost 2 kilometres of up hill with a very severe kicker at the end. I struggled the last section and had to have a breather at the top.

A long decent follows into Jindera and then its a transition across country to Table Top which is fairly flat. After Table Top i went up Bowna Hill which i practice on. After the big hill and the distance i had covered, i didnt have the energy to fly up Bowna Hill. I rode it at tempo. And then it was all the way back home on the usual training route.

DST = 54.835 kilometres

MXS = 56.1 KPH

AVS = 22.7 kph

Time = 2 Hours 24 minutes 54 seconds

Heart Rate

Time = 2 hours 33 minutes

Average = 165 bpm

Max = 198 bpm

Looking at my Heart Rate, it was a fairly intense ride. It felt comfortable but the average of 165 bpm is fairly high. No wonder i feel fatigued. Going to suffer for a few days. And the maximum is pretty high too. That was probably done on Jindera Gap on the sharp kicker at the end.

Hill Climb

Took a ride up Bowna Hill today. Its roughly 1.5 kilometres at a slight incline and a sharp kick at the very end. It's a very good tester for fitness. I love riding it as it allows me to find threshold and hold that for at least 5 minutes. It always gives me a buzz  as i hit the otherside and glide down.

Distance 41.430 kilometres

Maximum- 39.8 kph

AVS - 23.4 kph

Easy Ride

As the title says, todays ride was pretty easy. I took it pretty easy for most of it and was bored on the way home and was feeling pretty comfortable and decided to pick the pace up a fair bit and sat at threshold for 8 minutes or so. It felt great, the legs were burning, the lungs were feeling good. Thats the feeling i love. For todays ride i rode out half way to bowna and turned around.

Actually looking at the Heart rate numbers i am quite surprised the average was fairly high. I must have pushed it harder then i thought.

Bad news for today though is i punctured about 2 kilometres from home so had to walk home. I got glass into my wheel. I will work on making my tyres puncture proof this weekend. Kind of pissed off about the puncture but ill get over it. My average speed is low because of it.

Bowna Hill

Took a ride out to Bowna Hill and kept a steady pace. No real workouts just riding for fitness to get the legs feeling good. The pace was starting to pick up a bit at the end of the ride. I am lacking in speed at the moment but it will come back eventually and i will then be able to try  to increase the speed to the fastest i have ever.

Distance = 38.431 kilometres

Maximum = 44.1 kph

Average speed = 23.3 kph

Ride out to Bowna

A nice day for a ride out to Bowna today, sun was shining, didnt hear the birds chirping though as i had the mp3 cranking LOL. Spent most of the time cruising around with a 5 minute ride at tempo. I also added a sprint at the end and reached about 34 kph. I will add some sprint training soon. I will see if i can outsprint everyone this summer season.

DST =25.2 kilometres

Hume and Hovell Walking Track

I went and discovered where the Walking tracks went. Well a walking track, I'm sure there are plenty others, i just have to find them. Todays ride was pretty intense especially when i went over the hill. I rode part way up the hill but had to walk the rest pushing my bike because it was getting tough. Photos of my little expedition are on facebook, in the Albury Photo album. As you can see from the numbers below, it was pretty intense considering that i spent at least 40 minutes just casually riding around. The rest of the ride would have been spent with a really high heart rate. This is definitely the hardest workout i've done in a long time. I really enjoyed it today.

In 1824 the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Thomas Brisbane, commissioned Hamilton Hume and former Royal Navy Captain William Hovell to lead an expedition to find new grazing land in the south of the colony, and also to find an answer to the mystery of where New South Wales's western rivers flowed.
